“He looked so—what was it that gave him his irresistible charm? He looked so accessible. That was it. A great simple truth struck me with surprise: charm is availability.”
—Elaine Dundy, The Old Man and Me
“Of all of us, when we finished the show, she was the one who had the clearest idea about what it was that she wanted to do. To be able to go out and achieve that is no small feat. I just think it’s wonderful. It’s surreal in that it would be surreal to see any of our best friends up for an Oscar. It’s amazing, she’s an excellent actress.”

The series finale takes place five years after the end of the last episode (at the end of their sophomore year). So let’s say these kids are now 25, yes?
Joey is a “successful book editor” (LOL) who is dating/living with Jeremy Sisto, an accomplished writer (LOL) and they can somehow afford a Manhattan apartment with this view (LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLFFHFHFHHHCHUUUHCCHCHGGGICAN’TBREATHEGETTHEPARAMEDIC).
Oh look, how horrifying—I’ve finally caught up in age with the Dawson’s Creek characters in the season finale, when (spoilers) Joey had my career (in 20 years. if I’m lucky), Dawson had his own TV show, Pacey owned a restaurant, Jen had a child and vague terminal illness, and Jack convinced Pacey’s brother to finally come out of the closet. And all I have are the first four seasons on DVD.
In vino veritas, I guess.
Charming.
It blows my mind how the writers of DC thought it was ok for their “hero” to be such a grade-A asshole to everyone around him, and never be called on it. I don’t remember how many times Pacey punched Dawson over the course of six season (twice?) but it wasn’t nearly enough.
Joey: “Wait a second, I have to smile? You never said anything about smiling.” (Season One, Episode Twelve)
Joey: “Imagine that, Pacey. We actually have something in common… Providing gossip for the small-minded townsfolk. And unfortunately for you, you’re tonight’s top story.” (Season One, Episode Six)
Joey: “For so long, all I’ve thought about was you, all I dreamed about was you…”
Dawson: “What happened?”
Joey: “I got my dream, and now I don’t have anything else.” (Season Two, Episode Six)
Joey: “Why do I feel like I fell asleep on the train and woke up the protagonist in a Kafka story?” (Season Three, Episode 17)
Joey: “So what? If I want to be with you, I’m supposed to just throw all of my previous life experience out the window? I’m supposed to just stop being who I am?” (Season Six, Episode 23)
Joey: “You know, maybe — and this is just a shot in the dark — she didn’t mean to send it to the gossips at large. Maybe she’s just trying to get some private closure, never dreamed she’d be subjected to the Oprah psychobabble of her life-lacking peers. Now, do you guys want something to eat, or should I just bring over a nice tray of bon-bons so you guys can hunker down and watch your stories?” (Season Six, Episode Three)
Dawson: “Here I am. Single, sandwiched in between two women who both dumped me. I am pathetic.”
Jen: “Hey, look at me, I’m dating a bible thumping hypocrite, okay?”
Joey: “Hey…my boyfriend may be gay.” (Season Two, Episode 15)

Joey Potter - On My Own
Happy Katie Holmes Liberation Day, y’all.
I tried to not reblog this, but I JUST HAD TO.
“I thought that this is what I wanted. For you to see me as beautiful. For you to look at me the way you look at Will Smith. But the truth is, that’s not really what I want at all. I want you to look at me and see the person that you no longer want to brainwash, and realize that what we’ve had is so much more incredible than just some passing contractual marriage. ‘Cause you know what Tom? It’s just make-up — and hairspray — and tomorrow I’ll be back to being Katie. Just Katie. The too tall girl that lives as far away from you as possible.”
“When I arrived for a fitting the day before I was to shoot, Josh came through the office where I was waiting and all the staff was peeking out of cubbies and from behind desks to see what would happen when he saw me. He did not disappoint.
He is such an OPEN Unaffected person…he literally jumped up and down with joy like I was his favorite Christmas present. We hadn’t seen each other in a while. We had done a reading together a couple of years ago. And it was sheer delight to work with him on set and to see what a splendid actor and MAN he has become.”
Mary Beth Peil - Grams (Dawson’s Creek) and Jessica Warren (Fringe) , about what was that like, to be reunited with Joshua Jackson on the set of Fringe.
Awwwww! I would jump up and down with joy if I ever saw Grams, too! Also, I find it semi-hilarious that I can’t read the rest of the interview because my office’s filters have blocked teendramawhore.com.

“It’s really important for me that you be happy. So I want you to be with someone, whether it be Dawson or New York guy or some man that you haven’t even met yet. But I want you to be with someone who can be a part of the life that you want for yourself. I want you to be with someone who makes you feel like I feel when I’m with you. So, I guess the point to this long run-on sentence that’s been the last 10 years of our lives is just that the simple act of being in love with you is enough for me. So you’re off the hook.”
09 Characters You Love → Pacey Witter (Dawson’s Creek)
Forever my standard for romance.
