Hello, Halloween 2013 costume. I’ve been trying to get my roommate Alex to do a couples costume for years, since there are so many tall brunette/curvy blonde female pairs (Betty and Veronica, Aubrey and Marilyn, Kate Middleton and Chelsey Davys, Catwoman and her ambiguously gay little blonde friend). But I think Eowyn and Liv Tyler the elf is the perfect combo. Plus, I’d get to wield a sword, and whenever anyone asks me who I am, I could rip off my helm and scream, “I AM NO MAN!!!!” before killing them.

SJP in Hocus Pocus: Also on my Halloween bucket list. I was thinking that if I recruited Alex and Danielle to do it with me, we should learn the “I Put a Spell On You” routine and perform it on the L train—I bet we’d get a lot of spare change.

Yeah, the girl’s costume is actually pretty rad and relatively unslutty (in my book, you can get away with a tiny skirt and lots of cleavage but once you go bare midriff, you’ve taken Slutoween too far). I would have a really, really fun night in that outfit.

YES. That’s me in the bottom right corner—I was proud to be part of an army of McKayla’s last night at Hallowmeme. When I first walked in, I thought, “Shit, there’s another McKayla, and another…that one has a good bouquet, damn, but my scrunchie is definitely bigger, so she can suck it.” But by the end of the night, whenever I saw a McKayla I would go in for a high five and tell her how awesome she looked. It felt like being part of a sorority, if my sisters were drunk gymnasts with killer scowls.
