I was inspired to join One King’s Lane, a sort of Rue La La for home furnishings, after reading this post on the Lucky Mag blog. Really, the last thing I need is another daily email screaming, “DON’T MISS OUT ON THIS AMAZING DEAL!!” but if I can find a cute couch under $300 than it’ll be worth it. Checking out the site today, this lemon tree light-up sculpture is the only thing that’s catching my eye—and it’s $600, totally impractical, and I have no place to put it. But how freaking fun is it?

urbandreamscapes: “The golden hour hits high altitude Manhattan”

Sigh, this makes me miss my apartment from senior year—during the summer, the sun would align with the streets and out my bedroom window I could watch the sun set down 22nd St. Or I could lie in bed and watch the big square of pink light shining on the opposite wall for an hour.

Damn, I need to make sure my next apartment has better light.

Things We Love: Conservatories « Design Chic

Just the word “conservatory” makes me think of Clue, which is obviously the most glamorous board game around. Damn, this is like where the Friday night dinners on Gilmore Girls would take place, if Richard and Emily weren’t composed of 40% old money and 60% evil.

Reminds me of surfacing after scuba diving, breaking above the water and pulling your regulator out of your mouth. Oh, and realizing that you’ve surfaced in a totally different place than you planned, because if you think my sense of direction is bad on the Manhattan grid of streets, you should see me underwater.

Want some nature in your home? Try the Photosynthesis Lamp. It’s the perfect way to bring some life to your living space in the deadly fall and winter. Explains Blisstree:

The lamp is a wire that has a space for a vine in the center. The vine grows around the lamp, creating a natural shade…You can’t buy the lamp, but hopefully we’ll be able to at some point this winter.

But would we be able to keep the vine alive? I’ve killed just about every other plant I’ve owned.

Do I want this? Of course I do.
